Terms & Conditions
1. These terms
These terms apply to work carried out by The Decorative Surface Company, 5 Horncliffe Way, Menston, Ilkley, LS29 6SP. Where a written quotation sets out something different, the quotation takes precedence.
2. Quotations
Quotations are free and are priced as a fixed price for the job described, based on the information and access available to us at the time of survey. If the scope changes, or conditions on site differ materially from what was surveyed, we will agree any adjustment with you in writing before continuing.
3. Deposits and payment
A deposit of 45% of the quoted price is payable to cover materials and to secure your installation date. The balance is due on completion of the work unless we have agreed otherwise in writing.
4. Substrate and preparatory work
Our service is the application of decorative microcement and resin systems. Screeding, levelling, damp-proof membranes, tanking and waterproofing are not included and are carried out by other trades before we attend. We will confirm what is required. We are not responsible for defects arising from a substrate, waterproofing or preparatory work carried out by others, or from movement in the building structure.
5. Access and site conditions
You agree to provide clear access to the working area, together with power, lighting and water, and to keep the area free of other trades while we work and while the finish cures. Delays caused by access or by other trades may affect the programme.
6. Finishes and samples
Microcement and resin are applied by hand and by pour. Colour, tone and texture will vary naturally across a surface, and samples are indicative rather than exact. Finish and colour are agreed with you before application.
7. Guarantee
Our workmanship is guaranteed for one year from completion. The guarantee does not cover damage caused by misuse, accidental damage, unsuitable cleaning products, failure to follow the aftercare we provide, work by others, or defects in substrates or waterproofing installed by others.
8. Insurance and liability
We hold £10 million public liability insurance. Nothing in these terms limits liability where it cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
9. Cancellation
If you cancel after materials have been ordered or after work has begun, we may retain or charge for materials supplied and work carried out to that point. Consumers have statutory cancellation rights where a contract is entered into away from our premises; these are unaffected.
